Indian food

Chappan bhog

Also called: Chappan bhog, Чаппан бхог, Annakut, Аннакут

Fifty-six dishes laid out at once (sweets, savouries, rice, breads, drinks), offered to Krishna and then shared out. The number comes from the seven days Krishna held up Govardhan hill without eating, times his eight daily meals.

How it's eaten

It is an offering before it is a meal: you receive a portion, you do not order one.

Where to try it

Govardhan

Govardhan's own offering: the hill Krishna lifted is fed 56 dishes at Annakut, and the same idea scales down to any temple thali here.
