Aerocity

← Delhi

Delhi Aerocity is the hospitality district of Indira Gandhi International Airport: hotels from budget to five-star around the Worldmark complex of restaurants and bars, with its own station on the Airport Express Line. It is not a place to see the city but a place to sleep before a dawn flight or after a late landing.

Who should sleep here

Aerocity makes sense in two cases. The first is a flight before the first train: the Airport Express starts at 04:45 and the city metro lines run roughly from 05:30 to 23:30, so a dawn departure from central Delhi means a cab at night. The second is a landing after midnight, when a short hop to a hotel beats a long ride into town.

For anything longer than a night, the city is better seen from a central base. ibis and Lemon Tree Premier are the reliable mid-range picks inside the zone; other areas and budgets are compared in where to stay in Delhi.

👣 To the terminals and into the city

Check which terminal your flight uses before you book: it changes the plan.

  1. Terminals 2 and 3

Delhi Aerocity station is on the Airport Express Line, the same line that serves Terminal 3 (and T2) and runs into New Delhi railway station. Worldmark stands right next to the station.

  2. Terminal 1: the catch

The Airport Express does not reach T1, which handles the low-cost carriers; T1 has its own Magenta Line station. If you fly from T1, plan a cab from Aerocity. Details in Delhi airport.

  3. Into the city

The Airport Express runs into New Delhi railway station, the station for Paharganj and close to Connaught Place. The full guide to arriving: how to get to Delhi.

Eating before a flight

Worldmark's food courts and bars run late, which is the point of them. The Food Capital court includes a Wow Momo counter, useful before an early flight (momos in Delhi), and a counter of Giani's, the ice-cream chain whose Old Delhi original is described in kulfi falooda in Delhi. Meat-free options across the city: vegetarian food in Delhi.

Aerocity or somewhere else?

  • Paharganj: the budget base at the other end of the Airport Express, for a trip that continues by train.
  • Connaught Place: the central hub for a first visit of several days.
  • DLF Cyber Hub: the other glass-and-terraces district, across the border in Gurugram, if you want an evening out rather than an early night.
