Mathura

How to reach Mathura

← Mathura

Mathura Junction (MTJ)

A big junction on the Delhi–Mumbai main line with dozens of trains a day, and the reason Mathura works as a morning departure from Delhi.

Best option

By car on the Yamuna Expressway

The canonical way into Braj: a fast, predictable road with one toll, and the car stays with you for Vrindavan and Govardhan.

Bus from Delhi

UPSRTC and private coaches leave Sarai Kale Khan and Kashmiri Gate all day; the cheapest way in, and the slowest while Delhi lets you out.

Noida International (DXN, Jewar)

Open since March 2026 and now the nearest airport to Braj: it stands right on the Yamuna Expressway, with domestic flights from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Varanasi.

On Janmashtami vehicles are stopped about 3 km from Janmabhoomi: everyone walks the last stretch, taxis included.
