Hyderabad weather
Best time: Nov–Feb
Hyderabad's weather is set by the Deccan plateau, about 530 m above the sea: a dry, mild winter, a hot season that can touch 45°C, and a monsoon that arrives in short, heavy bursts. November to February is the comfortable window. The table above gives the monthly averages; here is what they mean on the ground.

Open in India GOThe three seasons
Winter, November to February. The season to come. Average highs sit around 29–32°C and nights drop to 15–18°C, with December and January the coolest. Rain is close to zero: one rainy day a month or less. Mornings are fresh enough for a light layer, and afternoons are warm rather than hot.
Hot season, March to June. March is still workable at about 36°C, but April and May average 38–40°C, and heat waves from April to June push the thermometer to 44–45°C. The heat is dry: humidity falls to around 41–42%. Nights stay warm, with May lows near 27°C.
Monsoon, June to September, with rain into October. The rains start in June (about 114 mm over seven days), though June is still hot at around 35°C. July and August are the wet heart of it, and August is the wettest month at about 204 mm over eleven days, with humidity in the mid-70s. September and October stay rainy, and from July to October cloudbursts (short, very heavy downpours) can flood roads. Between the bursts the city is green and highs hold at 30–32°C.
How the weather changes a trip
The same sights work in every season; the timing of the day changes.
Winter
Outdoor sights such as Golconda Fort and the Qutb Shahi Tombs are comfortable through the day. Winter dawns are also the time for birds at Ameenpur Lake, where flamingos, pelicans and painted storks appear between November and March.
Hot season
See the outdoor sights early in the morning and keep the middle of the day for museums such as the Salar Jung Museum. Carry water and cover your head.
Monsoon
Plan around the downpours and leave slack for flooded roads. After the rains Ananthagiri Hills are at their best (September to December), and Osman Sagar draws crowds in years when the reservoir fills.
Festivals by season
The wet half of the year holds the city's biggest festivals. Bonalu, Telangana's state festival, falls in the month of Ashada: 8 July – 1 August 2027 (expected). Ganesh Chaturthi ends with immersions at Hussain Sagar: 4–14 September 2027 (expected). Bathukamma, nine evenings of flower stacks floated on water, follows at the end of the rains: 10–18 October 2026.
In the dry season, Numaish, the big exhibition at Nampally, runs from 1 January to mid-February. More in festivals of Hyderabad and the best time to visit Hyderabad.
