The legend

The Government of Puducherry first held the International Yoga Festival in 1993; the response was strong enough to make it an annual event.

Since then it runs every year from 4 to 7 January; the thirtieth edition was held in 2025.

Yogasana contests run by age group for men and women; the finals and the champion of the meet come on the morning of 7 January.

The programme has talks, demonstrations and yoga therapy, along with bhajans, meditation, music and dance.
