Mysuru Dasara (Nadahabba)
Mysuru is about two hours away by the fastest trains, so from Bengaluru Dasara works as a day trip for the lit palace or the torchlight parade; the procession needs a pre-dawn start.

Bengaluru Karaga (Karaga Shaktyotsava)
On the Chaitra full moon a man of the Thigala community, dressed as a woman and carrying an unsupported tower of jasmine on his head, leaves the Dharmaraya Swamy temple after midnight and walks about twenty-two kilometres of the old city, pausing at a Sufi dargah on Cottonpet Main Road, and is back before the streets wake.

From Bengaluru the Mahamastakabhisheka is a long day out: about 150 km and three hours by road, or a Bengaluru–Hassan line train that stops at Shravanabelagola. The next one is due in 2030.
