How to get around tirupati
APSRTC bus up to Tirumala
Buses run round the clock from the Central Bus Station and Sri Padmavathi stand, every two to ten minutes at busy hours, and take 45 to 60 minutes on the 22 km climb.
~₹60–90 one way, ~₹120–180 for a link ticket both ways
Taxi up the ghat
Shared jeeps cost less. Every vehicle is checked at the Alipiri gate on the way up, so the taxi saves the queue for a seat but not the queue at the barrier.
~₹800–1,200
The two stepped trails
Alipiri Mettu is 3,550 steps over 9.8 km and takes three to four hours, open around the clock; Srivari Mettu is 2,388 steps over 2.1 km, one and a half to two hours, roughly 6:00 to 17:00. Free TTD buses run to both trailheads.

Free shuttles inside Tirumala
The Srivari buses circulate between the temple, the accommodation blocks and the counters at no charge. They stay on the hill and do not run back down to Tirupati.
free
The bus up is paid, whatever older guides say; at peak times allow an extra hour at the Alipiri checkpoint.
