How to get around Rishikesh
Rent a scooter
Rishikesh is strung along the river for several kilometres and two wheels solve it. A deposit of about ₹1,000 and a copy of your licence are the usual terms.
~₹400–800 a day, up to ~₹1,000 in season
Rickshaws and e-rickshaws
No meters anywhere, so agree the fare before getting in. Centre to the bus stand runs about ₹150–200, and shared rickshaws on the same routes cost a fraction.
~₹50–80 bridge to bridge, ~₹20–30 for a shared seat
Across the bridges on foot
Ram Jhula is the working footbridge, and two-wheelers use it too. Lakshman Jhula has been shut since 2019; the new glass-decked Bajrang Setu next to it now carries the crossing.

Apps: intercity only
Uber and Ola will happily drive you to Haridwar, Dehradun or the airport, but they do not accept rides inside Rishikesh at all. For local hops it is rickshaws or nothing.
