Vada Pav in Mumbai

← What to eat in Mumbai

The city's own sandwich, and the one thing every Mumbaikar has an opinion about, usually about a specific cart.

Vada Pav

Maharashtra's own sandwich: a spiced potato fritter in a soft bun with dry garlic chutney. Credited to a stall outside Dadar station in the 1960s: hot food a mill worker could eat standing up, and still priced on that logic.

How it's eaten

Take the fried green chilli that comes with it and bite them alternately; that is the whole design.
