How to reach Goa
Dabolim (GOI) or Mopa (GOX)
The choice is made by your beach, not by the ticket price: Mopa in the north is 15–20 km from Arambol and about 35 km from Calangute, Dabolim in the south is 25 km from Margao and 65 km from Palolem. North goes to GOX, south to GOI; the wrong one costs two hours of road.
Best option
Konkan Railway: Madgaon, Thivim, Karmali
Madgaon is the main junction and serves the south; Thivim is the station for the northern beaches (~17–19 km to Calangute), Karmali for Panaji and Old Goa (~11 km). Vasco sits on a dead-end branch.
Overnight sleeper buses
The straightforward way in when the trains are sold out: sleepers leave Mumbai and Bengaluru in the evening and reach the Goan bus stands in the morning.
Uber and Ola do not work in Goa. Touts offering "Uber" in the terminal are a scam; use the prepaid desk or GoaMiles.
