Kailasakona Waterfalls

← Tirumala

AreaNagari valley near Puttur, about 46–50 km from Tirupati

About fifty kilometres out in the Nagari hills, a thirty-metre fall comes straight out of a cleft in the rock and lands in a shallow pool. It is spring-fed rather than run-off, which is why it keeps flowing through the dry months when everything else nearby has stopped; the water is held to be medicinal, and a small Kailasanatha shrine stands beside it. Vehicles reach the foot of the falls, and APSRTC buses run from Tirupati and Puttur. October to February brings the strongest flow. Entry is a small fee and the changing facilities are basic.

The one waterfall near Tirupati that runs all year, with the car park at its foot
