Garud Chatti Waterfall

← Rishikesh

AreaNeelkanth road, ~3 km from Lakshman Jhula

The easiest way out of town and into the trees. The trail starts beside the small Garud Chatti temple on the Neelkanth road and runs 1.5 kilometres through shaded jungle (birdsong, the river showing between trunks) to a cascade that comes down in seven tiers. It is the gentlest of the local waterfall walks and fine with children, and it costs nothing. The fall is fullest just after the monsoon, in October and November, and thins in high summer; in heavy July-to-September rain the path turns slippery and asks for care.
