Holy dip in Pushkar

← Pushkar

Snan at the ghats

Fifty-two ghats ring the lake, each named for the ruler, saint or deity who built or consecrated it. Pilgrims have stepped into this water for more than two thousand years, and the town still wakes for it: by sunrise the steps are busy and the water is cold enough to make the first breath sharp.

Sunrise, roughly 05:30–07:30. Evening lamps on the water are the other good hour, around 18:30–20:00.
