After visiting the lake, pilgrims almost inevitably find themselves drawn to the Brahma Temple. Legend tells us that this is precisely where the creator god performed his great sacrifice on Pushkar's sacred banks. The Temple of Brahma is one of the very few active Brahma temples, and by far the most famous. Others exist, such as Asotra and Khedbrahma in Rajasthan/Gujarat, Uttamar Kovil in Tamil Nadu, and Brahma Karmali in Goa, but Pushkar's is the main pilgrimage center, which alone makes it the city's signature attraction.

The temple's architecture blends white marble and stone carving, with an atmosphere combining solemnity and simplicity. Before entering, remove your shoes and all leather items, a sign of respect that is strictly observed here.

But Brahma's story in Pushkar doesn't end at the temple's base. Two peaks above the city hold the continuation of the ancient myth: the Temple of Savitri on Ratnagiri Hill and the Temple of Gayatri on a neighboring peak. Together with Brahma's temple below, they form a symbolic sacred triangle that reflects the city's mythology.

  • Savitri Mata Mandir: the temple of Brahma's wife Savitri, who according to legend withdrew to this summit in anger. You can reach it on foot in 20–30 minutes or by cable car. The sunset from here is among Pushkar's finest.
  • Gayatri Mata Temple: dedicated to Brahma's second wife, Gayatri, with a softer, more meditative atmosphere. It offers views of the lake and city from a different angle, creating a symbolic balance between the two peaks.

The route across the three temples of Pushkar covers the main points of the legend: the Brahma Temple by the sacred lake, where the great sacrifice took place, and the two temples on the hilltops (Savitri on Ratnagiri Hill and Gayatri on the neighboring peak). Together they form a symbolic triangle reflecting the myth of the city.
