AreaAmbegaon Budruk (near Katraj)

A theme park built to tell one story - the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj - conceived by the historian Babasaheb Purandare's foundation and billed as the largest historical park of its kind in Asia once it is finished. Phase one opened in February 2023, phase two in February 2025. The galleries carry names as grand as their subject: Durg Vaibhav for the great forts, Sinhasanadhishwar for the coronation hall, and a Time Machine theatre that projects the Maratha era around the audience. Tickets are sold online only: ₹200 for Indian citizens (₹100 for school students) and ₹1,000 plus GST for foreign visitors. Allow about four hours, out at Ambegaon Budruk off the Katraj-Sinhagad road.

The most ambitious retelling of the Shivaji story anywhere, built as walk-through theatre
