Shaniwar Wada

The main historical landmark is the former residence of the Peshwas, the de facto rulers of the Maratha Empire. It's not a palace in the traditional sense: a major fire in 1828 destroyed most of the structures.

Evening experience: In the evenings, a light show with a narrative about the complex's history takes place here, bringing the fortress to life.
