Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum
One of Pune's most distinctive museums, built on the single-minded collecting life of Dr. Dinkar Kelkar. What started as a personal hobby grew into a vast archive of Indian craft and daily life: brass hookahs and water vessels, terracotta figurines frozen mid-gesture, painted wooden windows, ceremonial sculptures, and bronze icons of Vishvarupa and other cosmic forms.
The museum is less about grand statements and more about how ordinary Indian objects (combs, nutcrackers, oil lamps, puja implements) slowly accumulate into a portrait of a civilization. Small rooms, dense vitrines; easy to spend a couple of hours without noticing.
