Pashan Lake
A reed-fringed lake in the north-western suburb of Pashan that birders have quietly kept to themselves: well over two hundred species recorded, and from roughly November to February the Central Asian Flyway brings migratory ducks and waders - pintails, garganeys, sandpipers - in among the resident herons, cormorants and kingfishers. A walking track runs round the water, and early morning belongs to birdwatchers and joggers. Free, low-key and entirely local in feel. Bring binoculars and expect no facilities at all.
A genuine local birding patch, fifteen minutes from the Baner cafes
