Parvati Hill
The highest point in Pune and one of the city's oldest historical sites. The climb involves about 100 stone steps; for locals, it's a popular morning walk and light cardio. At the top is the Shree Devdeveshwar Temple, dedicated to Shiva and Parvati.
Why visit: From the summit, you can see the entire city. It's one of Pune's best spots for sunset watching.
Historical significance: It's believed that from here the last Peshwa watched the Battle of Kirkee in 1817, which opened the Third Anglo-Maratha War. The war concluded in 1818, marking the end of the Maratha Empire and the beginning of British rule over the region.
