MIT World Peace Dome
Almost no visitor to Pune has heard of it, which is the strange part: a dome 160 ft across, claimed as the world's largest and wider in span than St Peter's in the Vatican, standing 263 ft tall on 24 columns out at Loni Kalbhor. It crowns the World Peace Prayer Hall and library of the MIT-WPU Rajbaug campus, opened in October 2018 and dedicated to Dnyaneshwar, the 13th-century saint-philosopher, with 54 bronze figures of saints, scientists and thinkers from Buddha to Einstein set around it. This is a working university and prayer complex, but the dome is open to visitors daily, with tickets at ₹100 for Indian citizens (₹50 for children aged 5–12) and ₹500 for foreign visitors.
