Tibetan Market
A row of small stalls near the Botanical Garden, run largely by Tibetan women and stocked with precisely what an Ooty evening asks for: shawls, cardigans, jackets, pullovers, gloves and caps, all at reasonable prices. Open roughly 10:00 to 20:30 daily. Bargaining is expected rather than awkward, and many stallholders would rather take cash. Not a sight to plan a morning around, but when the mist comes down the slope at five and you are dressed for the plains, it becomes the most useful address in town.
Where to fix an underdressed evening - woollens, caps and gloves at fair prices
