All Saints Church, Coonoor
Stone Gothic of the English-countryside kind, set in a garden of pines off the Kotagiri road: All Saints was dedicated in 1851 and opened in 1854, making it one of the oldest churches in the Nilgiris. Inside there is stained glass, dark antique woodwork and an old pipe organ standing where it was installed. The parish now belongs to the Church of South India, and Sunday worship has gone on here for some 170 years. Visitors are welcome outside service times, there is nothing to pay, and on a weekday the loudest thing in the nave is the wind in the pines.
