Jana Waterfall

← Naggar

AreaJana village

A thirty-foot cascade in deodar forest above Jana, about 12 km from Naggar on a single-lane road that climbs through apple orchards; a high-clearance vehicle or a hired jeep handles it best, and the last stretch is a rocky walk of about fifteen minutes. Jana village itself, a kilometre below the falls, is one of the largest in Kullu district: some four hundred houses on an open shoulder with the valley spread below. The water is at full strength from July to October; by January it has thinned to a stream and most of the small roadside kitchens are shut. Skip the drive in heavy monsoon rain, when this side of the valley is prone to slides.
