Bijli Mahadev Temple
A Shiva temple alone on a 2,450 m ridge above the Beas, marked by a wooden staff some sixty feet tall that villagers say draws the lightning. By tradition the strike shatters the lingam (the stone form in which Shiva is worshipped), and the priest joins it back together with butter. The classic approach is a 3 km climb of two to three hours from the roadhead at Chansari, through apple orchards and deodar; a ropeway to the ridge now shortens it. From the crest the view runs over the Kullu and Parvati valleys at once. A full day from Naggar, 45–50 km by road; go outside the monsoon and outside the winter snow. Shoes off at the shrine.
A ridge-top shrine the lightning is said to strike, with two valleys open below it
