November–February, dry and pleasant. Days of 29–32 °C, nights of 16–18 °C, and very little rain after November. Mornings are cool and clear, the light on the palace domes is soft, and long days of walking are comfortable.
March–May, the hot months. March and April reach 35 °C by day, with nights of 20–22 °C. Rain starts in April (about 53 mm), and May brings 95 mm over about six days. Plan the palace and the market for mornings and late afternoons.
June–August, a soft monsoon. On IMD's normal dates the monsoon reaches Mysuru around 3 June, but this is the rain shadow: only 50–90 mm a month, on four to six days. Days fall to 29–31 °C and the countryside turns green. It is one of the most comfortable monsoons in India for sightseeing.
September–October, the wettest. The rain comes late here. September brings 122 mm and October, the wettest month, 177 mm over about nine days. October is also Dasara month, so pack an umbrella along with the festival plans.
Best time to visit Mysore
October to February is the best window: cool nights, dry days from November, and Dasara in late September or October. There is no month to rule out. March to May is hot but bearable, and the June–August monsoon is light. The real cost of the Dasara weeks is not the weather but the crowds and higher room prices, so book early or come just after.

Mysuru Dasara: late September–October
Ten days of the lit palace, music and the Jamboo Savari elephant procession on the last day (11–21 October in 2026; expected 30 September–9 October in 2027). Ramzan evenings: February–March
Every evening of Ramadan the old market quarters fill with iftar food stalls, open late in the last days before Eid (19 February–20 March in 2026; 9 February–9 March in 2027; about eleven days earlier each year). Dry weather, with evenings cooling from the 30–35 °C afternoons.
