Brindavan Gardens, KRS Dam
Brindavan Gardens, below the KRS dam about 21 km from Mysuru, are open daily from 6:30 to 20:00. The musical fountain show, the reason most people come, runs from 18:30 to 19:30 on weekdays and to 20:00 at weekends and on holidays, according to Karnataka Tourism. Entry is ₹100 for anyone aged 6 and over under the 2025 state rates.
About 20 km from the city, by the KRS dam, lie the famous Brindavan Gardens, large terraced gardens laid out in a symmetrical style.
The main draw is the evening musical fountain show, when illuminated jets of water "dance" to music. The place is very popular with locals and families. If you have a spare evening and love parks, it's a pleasant trip out of town that suits Mysore's relaxed pace well.

What to see
The gardens fall in terraces below the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam, laid out symmetrically on either side of a long central water channel. A footbridge links the two halves. On the left are lawns, flower beds, smaller fountains and benches; on the right, more fountains, tall trees and clipped gardens; and the straight central path leads to the musical fountain area at the far end.
By day it is a big, orderly park for a stroll. After dark the channel lights up and the garden changes character: the crowd drifts toward the far end, the music starts, and jets of water twist and rise in time with old film songs, Carnatic pieces and patriotic tunes while the lights change colour with every beat. It is a family evening out, loud and cheerful rather than contemplative, and it suits Mysuru's unhurried pace.
Boating on the channel, which older guides mention, is not running at present.
