Surkanda Devi Temple

← Mussoorie

AreaKaddukhal, near Dhanaulti (~35 km from Mussoorie)

The Goddess sits at about 2,757 m on a bare summit, and the last stretch up to her is the point of the trip. From the roadhead at Kaddukhal it is a steep climb of 1.5–2 km, or a ropeway ride that has been running since 2022 for around ₹200. The shrine is revered as a Shakti Peeth tied to the legend of Sati and counts among the most sacred sites of Tehri Garhwal. On a clear morning the panorama runs from the Gangotri-side peaks across to Chaukhamba. Roughly 1.5 hours from Mussoorie via Dhanaulti; the big Ganga Dussehra fair falls in May–June.
