Cambridge Book Depot
A narrow, overstuffed shop on Mall Road, family-run since the 1950s and impossible to separate from Ruskin Bond, who launched his books here and for decades met readers on Saturday afternoons in the 3:30–5:30 slot. Bond is 91 now and largely at home in Ivy Cottage; appearances have become rare and are never announced, so come for the books rather than the writer. The full Bond shelf is here, and author-signed copies are usually in stock. The shop survived a much-publicised closure scare during the pandemic, which the town took personally.
