Letchmi Hills

The local sunrise walk, starting barely 3 km from Munnar town: two to three hours up from the Letchmi tea estate, part of the Kanan Devan hills, through plucking rows and grassland to a shola-fringed ridge around 1,950 m above the valley. Departures around 5 AM catch the fog lifting off the tea, and for much of the way the only other people on the path are estate workers heading to their rows. This is working KDHP land rather than open hillside, so it is walked with a local guide or operator instead of on your own. It is easy to arrange in town, and gentle enough for most fitness levels.
