National Gallery of Modern Art
A domed public hall of 1911 by George Wittet, reworked inside by Romi Khosla into a spiral that carries you past the art floor by floor; the building is half the reason to come. The other half is the collection: more than 1,400 works with real depth in the Bombay Progressives, Raza and Souza among them, plus rotating exhibitions that draw weekend queues. Closed Mondays, the ticket is small and foreigners pay a higher rate. It stands at Regal Circle, an easy addition to a Kala Ghoda afternoon.
