Juhu Beach

← Mumbai

Juhu Beach in Mumbai is a place where you can feel the city's unique magic by the ocean. A long promenade stretches along the Arabian Sea, and something special happens here: every few minutes, planes taking off from Mumbai's international airport fly overhead.

The walk here becomes a meditation. You move along the shoreline, listen to the sound of waves, and then a huge Boeing or Airbus roars overhead and flies off across the water.

This looks especially impressive at sunset. The sun slowly sinks into the water, painting the sky in orange and pink tones. The water stretches to infinity, all the way to the horizon where sky merges with sea. And in this moment of silence and beauty, a plane's silhouette suddenly appears.

Local residents come here as families: children build sand castles, teenagers play cricket, and elderly people sit on the wall watching the sea. Street vendors sell bhel puri, pav bhaji, and kulfi (traditional ice cream).

Planes fly so low you can make out the airline logos. Air India, Emirates, Lufthansa: the whole world flies over this beach. And each time you hear the growing engine rumble, you involuntarily look up and think: where are these people heading?

The best time for a walk is late evening, when the heat subsides and the ocean breeze brings coolness. You can simply sit on the wall, watch the lights from distant ships flicker on the horizon, and listen to this special Mumbai soundtrack: the sound of waves, the voices of people, the rumble of planes, and the endless symphony of a big city by the sea.
