Chimanlals
A paper shop in Fort, trading since the 1950s, that most people walk past because it looks like a stationer's. It is one, and also one of the last places making block-printed letter papers, wrapping sheets, boxes and cards on Indian handmade stock. The motifs are elephants, paisley and peacocks, printed in flat bright colour that photographs badly and looks wonderful in the hand. Generations of Mumbai families have ordered wedding invitations here. Everything packs flat and weighs nothing, which is rare in a souvenir.
