Mayapur Goshala

← Mayapur

AreaISKCON Mayapur campus

The temple's goshala (its cow sanctuary), where some 380 to 400 cows, calves, bulls and bullocks live under a lifetime-protection rule: no animal here is ever sold or sent away. Visitors walk the sheds, feed the herd, offer go-puja, a simple honouring of the cow, and in season take the bullock-cart ride that starts from the gate. The small shop sells ghee and milk sweets made on the spot. Open roughly 6:00 to 18:00, no entry fee; early morning and late afternoon are the calm hours, when the animals are out and the light is low.

The quietest hour in Mayapur: four hundred protected cows, a bullock cart and fresh ghee
