AreaBamanpukur

A grassy brick mound beside the Krishnanagar road, 10 km short of Mayapur at Bamanpukur Bazar. Most pilgrims pass the blue ASI board without slowing. Excavations by Calcutta University in 1979 and the ASI through the 1980s uncovered a large brick edifice inside a walled courtyard, along with stucco heads, terracotta figurines and copper objects: a panchayatana temple complex (a main shrine with smaller shrines around it) that the ASI dates to about the 10th–12th centuries. Local tradition ties the name to Ballal Sena of the Sena dynasty. A staircase climbs the mound, a brick path runs through the interior, entry is free.

A thousand-year-old brick complex ten minutes off the Mayapur road, and almost nobody climbs it
