Aarti in Mayapur
Mangala Arati at Mayapur
The first service of the day, at half past four in the morning, when the curtains open and the deities are woken with lamps, conch and drums while several hundred people sing together in a dark hall. It is the emotional centre of the daily schedule here, and the reason many residents get up at four. Visitors are welcome to stand at the back and just listen.
