Pareshnath Jain Temple
Four Svetambara Jain temples in one garden, begun in 1867 by the jeweller Rai Badridas Bahadur Mookim, and every surface inside is doing something with light: Belgian mirrors, coloured glass, glass mosaic, chandeliers, with fountains and silver-painted figures in the grounds outside. The main shrine is dedicated to Shitalnatha, the tenth tirthankara (a Jain spiritual teacher), and its lamp is said to have burned without a break since consecration. Shoes off at the entrance; mid-morning is calmest.
Mirrors, mosaic and coloured glass: the most luminous temple interior in the city
