Fort Kochi
The old quarter where all the charm and history are concentrated. Colonial facades, waterfront charm, historic sites and European-influenced architecture create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in India. This is where you will find the most interesting sights, cafes and galleries.
Ernakulam across the water is the practical half of the city (malls, metro, the airport road), and it is the sensible base if logistics matter most. But if you came for the waterfront, the Chinese fishing nets, the cafes, the temples and the colonial lanes, stay in Fort Kochi itself: the atmosphere and everything worth seeing are both within walking distance.
