Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple
One goddess, three faces in a single day: at Chottanikkara she is worshipped as Saraswati in the morning, Lakshmi at noon and Durga by evening, and the rhythm of the temple changes with her. It is among Kerala's most revered Devi shrines, about 17 km from the city, and its best-known moment is the late-evening guruthi ritual at the lower Keezhkavu shrine, traditionally associated with healing afflictions of the mind. The inner sanctum is reserved for Hindus; others follow the rituals from the outer courtyard. Traditional dress is expected, and shoes come off at the entrance.
