Raj Mandir Cinema
An Art Deco movie palace from 1976, nicknamed the Pride of Asia, with chandeliers in the foyer, pastel walls and a whipped, meringue-like silhouette that belongs to no other decade. The building is worth the ticket on its own, but the real event is the audience: a Bollywood release here comes with whistling, clapping and singing along, and none of it needs subtitles to follow. Book online in advance, and arrive half an hour early to look at the foyer before the lights go down.
The film matters less than the room and the crowd; book the ticket online before you go
