Nahargarh Fort

← Jaipur

Entry~₹600

Perched on the Aravalli ridge above Jaipur, Nahargarh was built in 1734 as a retreat and a line of defence, linked along the hills to Jaigarh and Amber. It is less about grand interiors than about the view: the whole Pink City spread out below, best at sunset when the walls turn gold.

Inside sits Madhavendra Bhawan, a honeycomb of identical suites built for the maharaja's queens so that he could visit any of them unseen by the others. There's a café by the ramparts, a fine place to wait for the light.
