Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple
Jaipur brings its beginnings here. New cars are parked at the gate for a blessing, wedding invitations are laid before the deity, and the idol at the foot of Moti Dungri hill, said to be more than five hundred years old and installed in 1761, is the one the city trusts with anything that is starting. Wednesdays bring a weekly fair and the densest crowds; at Ganesh Chaturthi the temple presents a laddu of 251 kilograms, a sweet made to a recipe kept for 140 years. Entry is free, shoes come off at the steps.
Where the city blesses new cars and wedding cards, busiest and best on Wednesdays
