Charles Correa built this arts centre between 1986 and 1991 as a diagram of the city around it: nine interlocking squares repeating the navagraha, the nine-planet grid on which old Jaipur was drawn, with planetary symbols inlaid into the red sandstone facades. An hour in the courtyards explains the city's geometry better than most museum labels do. Inside are six galleries, an amphitheatre, craft displays and a coffee house, and exhibitions run all year. Entry to the complex is free; individual performances are ticketed.
