Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal is a five-story pink sandstone facade with hundreds of tiny windows. From the outside it looks spectacular, but inside the palace is quite simple: small rooms, narrow corridors and minimal decor. The main reason to go inside is the views of the old city and the bazaars.
Allow 40–60 minutes: the staircases are narrow, and the upper levels back up whenever a group arrives.
The best photos are taken from the opposite side of the street, where there are several cafes with terraces – from there you can see the entire facade clearly and without obstruction.
Because of the narrow passages inside, it can get crowded, so it's best to go in the morning.
