Chandpol Bazaar
The quiet end of the old city, where the sound is chisels on stone rather than car horns. Marble carving is the trade here: workshops line the lanes, and Khajane Walon ka Rasta, the street of the marble carvers, opens straight off the bazaar, so you can watch a figure emerge from the block and buy from the person who cut it. Sculptures, décor pieces and wooden showpieces run roughly ₹200 to ₹8,000. Most shops keep to about 10 AM to 7 PM. Few itineraries include it, which is much of the appeal.
Watch marble being carved, then buy it from the carver (pieces from about ₹200)
