Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing

← Jaipur

AreaAmer, near Kheri Gate

A restored haveli in the back lanes of Amer, ten minutes below the fort, holding the clearest explanation anywhere of how Rajasthani block printing works: galleries of garments, and live demonstrations where a carver cuts a wooden block and a printer walks a length of cloth, with a stamp handed over for you to try. Entry costs very little. The lane carries no sign, so ask for Kheri Gate. The museum usually closes for the summer break from May to mid-July, so check the hours before making the trip.
