Telangana State Archaeology Museum
The city's oldest museum occupies an Indo-Saracenic pavilion inside Public Gardens, opened by the Nizam himself and still arranged with a certain unhurried formality. Most people come for one case: the 2,300-year-old Egyptian mummy of Princess Naishu, now sealed in a nitrogen chamber. Around it are Buddhist and Jain sculpture, Deccan bronzes, copies of the Ajanta paintings and long galleries of coins. The ticket is modest; the museum closes on public holidays and one weekday, so check before setting out. The gardens outside make it an easy Nampally morning.
