How to reach Haridwar

← Haridwar

Haridwar Junction

The station is a twenty-minute walk from Har Ki Pauri, which makes the train the whole answer here: you step off the platform and you are already in the old town.

Best option

Half an hour from Rishikesh

The two towns are effectively one trip. Traffic runs all day in both directions, and the choice is only about how much of the car you want to yourself.

Coach from Delhi

Buses leave Delhi through the day and night. Slower than the train, but there is always a seat and no booking window to catch.

Jolly Grant airport (DED)

About an hour to an hour and a half on the road, and worth it only if you were flying anyway; the train from Delhi lands you closer to the ghats.

Har Ki Pauri is closed to vehicles roughly 9:00–22:00. For the evening aarti, walk from the barrier; allow 20–25 minutes.
