Sanapur Lake
An irrigation reservoir held in a bowl of golden boulders on the Anegundi side of the river, about 4 km from the Virupapur Gaddi crossing, or a 25 km loop by road via Kamalapura. Villagers take visitors out in coracles, the round basket boats of the Tungabhadra, and by late afternoon the boulder shores fill with people waiting for the water to change colour. Read the warning boards: depths and undercurrents here are deceptive and crocodiles have been sighted, so watch the cliff-jumpers instead of joining them.
