Bibliotheque Library
This place is one of the most unexpected discoveries in Gokarna. Walking along the hill above the beach, you'll notice an unassuming blue building with peeling paint, shuttered windows, and silence all around. To all appearances, it looks completely abandoned. But something about it draws you in.
Step closer and the door isn't locked. Peer inside, and you're suddenly transported to another era. It's a functioning library, though very old and dusty. Wooden shelves, worn books, card catalog drawers, faded signs. The faint smell of paper and time. Not another soul around.
A beautiful gesture: If you bring a book with you, leave it here. It's a simple gesture of respect for the place: sharing something of your own and expecting nothing in return.
An unexpected literary sanctuary
