Bike rental in Goa
Scooter: the way Goa actually moves
Goa's main way to move: ~₹300–500 a day off season, up to ~₹1,000 in peak. You rent from local shops (by a shack, a guesthouse, a crossroads); the apps barely work here and the deal is made in person. Deposit ~₹1,000–2,000 or a passport copy; never hand over the original. You need an international licence with category A and a helmet: checkpoints do fine you.

Bike taxis: the "pilots"
Motorcycles with yellow plates, legal here since 1979 and found nowhere else in India in this form. They wait at markets, bus stands and ferry slips; there is no meter, so agree the price first.
~₹50–150 for a short hop
🪪 A foreign licence alone is not enough: you need an international permit with category A, plus a helmet. Police checkposts at Anjuna, Panaji and the bridges fine ~₹500–1,000.
🚉 Madgaon for the south, Thivim for the northern beaches, Karmali for Panaji. Getting off at the wrong one adds an hour and a taxi across the state.
🌙 After 22:00 airport transfers carry a surcharge of about ₹500, and the buses have already stopped until six in the morning.
